Am I the only person who thinks that putting tracks on your tires is cheating?
I can't blame you for disagreeing with me.

I just feel like the tracks make it too easy, removes some of the adventure.
This is one of those things I have that makes no sense, but it's still just this burning in my soul.

Now jump them both with the rally car! Then jump the rally car with the tracked truck! Then jump the rally car with the tow truck! Then set it all to dubstep and show it from several angles! Truckhana!

I guess I see your point, but the truth is; when it comes to deep snow, without tracks...the adventure is over before it begins. You can do it with tires, but the tires and modifications are such that tracks is actually the better choice.

That's why I will never fault someone who puts tracks on their truck.
I think I just figured my issue out. It's like large SUVs in the snow around here. Most people figure that a large 4wd SUV will protect them from sliding. I worry that someone's going to get the idea that tracks will make them invincible.
Ken Block, I trust. Jen the soccer mom who thinks tracks are neat, I don't.

God would I love a nice sponsorship from Ford. Raptors, F450's, insane rally fiesta's...

Jen the soccer mom isn't going to be able to afford tracks. For a truck this size they START at $20,000

A long time ago, I said Jen the soccer mom wouldn't be able to afford a Hummer (I'm talking mid-late 90's, with the original Hummer as a reference). But here we are.

bonus points - a truck like this isn't going to be remotely practical or even street legal, so I think its safe to say this will be a niche market for a long while. I know the feeling though, when Avalanche airbags started gaining popularity i was worried people would go out into terrain they knew would slide, but feel okay with it because they have the bag. The stats haven't born that out thankfully.

Makes sense that the truck isn't street legal, but there's going to come a point where someone with more money than brains tries to fight that fight.
Avalanche airbags are amazing. I'm also very happy that there hasn't been an uptick in bad decisions with the expectation of divine intervention. I think some of that has to do with the people purchasing them being experienced enough to know they need a backup plan, but their experience leading them to know that they don't want to have to use the backup plan due to the other risks involved.

Gymkhana 7: Video opens up with Ken's traditional fiesta sitting in the snow idling. Then it peels off...pulling with it a giant curtain to reveal ken's real rally vehicle; a two door 4x4 2000HP Powerstroke pickup!

Im not worried about the more money that brainers. They are on their own. As for AVY bags, I think they are still pretty scarce to make a definitive call, and they aren't for everywhere (Utah isn't ideal for them) but they can make a difference with the right know how.
